Looks like we’re forecast for some beautiful weather -so it is time to get your veggies in the ground!  We are well stocked with dozens of varieties of tomatoes, as well as lots of peppers, eggplant, melons, cucumbers, beans, greens, squash….you name it – we’ve got it covered.  Helping folks choose the best veggies for their gardens is personally one of my favorite things to do here at FG, so speak up if you need some help.

And while you’re here, take a gander down to our demonstration vegetable garden, which has a new location down by the white tent.  We’ve got a great assortment of things growing – cucumbers, onions, kale, carrots, radishes, lettuces, beets, Swiss chard, tomatoes, and much more.  Still room to add more, so keep dropping by to see what’s going on.  One of our goals is to showcase not only how attractive an edible garden can be, but how productive too.  We will be growing many things vertically to save space and keep things healthy and happy.

We hope to see you soon –  here’s to a great and bountiful harvest for us all!

Don’t you just LOVE the flowering trees you see all over the city right now?!  This is such a great time of year.  I took a gander around the nursery this morning to see what’s in bloom here, and there’s lots to choose from.  This seems to be Crabapple Week — all of the varieties are in their prime and gorgeous. The magnolias are just finishing up, but the ’Butterflies’ variety, with its buttery color, is spectacular.  The other tree that caught my eye was the Avondale Chinese Redbud – it’s brilliant buds are still tight, but will burst out at any moment in it’s full glory.  And when it does, it will be amazing.  Note to self:  I need one of these in MY garden!
