Nothing is more festive than the beauty and fragrance of fresh evergreens!  I love to drape western red cedar garlands across the front of my home’s entry, sometimes with lights added — that natural, homey style is just the look I’m going for with my holiday decorating.  I add cedar garlands across the top of my deck railing as well – it is fun to watch the birds inspect it!

And then it is time for the tree.  This is a central part of our family tradition.  Almost every ornament has a story or memory associated with it, so the simple act of trimming the tree becomes a wonderful walk down memory lane.  We choose a fresh tree, of course, because we love the fragrance inside our home as well as outside!

Farmington Gardens is your Holiday Headquarters for the freshest holiday greens.  We have an abundant inventory of freshly-cut trees in four types:  Noble Fir, Douglas Fir, Grand Fir, and Nordmann Fir, and vary in height from 3 feet to 12 feet or more.   You will find wreaths and garlands, as well as bulk greens for your own creations.  If you are interested in a living tree, either for a container or for your garden, we have a large variety of those as well.

Let us help you choose the perfect tree while you enjoy cookies and cider!

19309776Giving feels great, doesn’t it?  Some of my most memorable holiday shopping experiences have been when I’m buying a gift for a child I don’t even know.  I hope you too have had that kind of fun.  If not, try it out – head to the store and find something special for a child who might otherwise not have anything to open on Christmas morning.

Farmington Gardens is collecting toys for children for the Salvation Army during the holiday season.  Bring any unwrapped  new or gently used toys now through December 17th, and we will see that they get into eager little hands by Christmas day.

As our two-fold way of saying thanks for your donation, we have two appreciation gifts for you:

  • Enjoy 15%  off your total purchase when you bring in a toy
  • Take home a coupon good for $5 off the ticket price of  “A Christmas Carol”, a live production at the Venetian Theatre in Hillsboro.  This classic with a twist will be presented December 9-22.

16221762We are nearing the end of the line for our Annual Canned Food Drive, but there is still a little bit of time left to take advantage of the savings!  The last day for this year’s event is Sunday, November 15th, so you will have to hurry in if you want to donate food and get your discount.  Five cans of food gets you 20% off of your total sale, even off of items that are already on sale (with just a few minor exclusions).  We have already taken in an enormous amount of food this season for the Oregon Food Bank, and we will be sure to post the final weight of the donations after the drive is finished!

Sale prices no longer valid.  We’ve got lots going on around the store this winter – I’ll write more about that another time!  But all the changes we are making require us to clear out some of our remaining stock.  This week we reduced the price of all our hardy fuchsias to 60%off.  And if you couple that with our canned food drive – bring in five cans or non-perishable packages of food for the Oregon Food Bank -you will receive an additional 20% off.  They won’t last long, and the selection is still good!  Get them in the ground now, and you’ll have fantastic color all through next summer.

What a crazy fun Halloween around here!  Our first annual Family Halloween Festival was a huge success, thanks to all the kids and doggies that brought their families.  There was pumpkin decorating, terrific costumes, and scrambling for candy in the hay pile — all in all, good old-fashioned Halloween fun – here’s the proof.   Thank you everyone for making it such a fun event!
